March 2018

The Florida Department of Transportation has acquired all of the property for its I-95 at Atlantic Avenue interchange project in Delray Beach. Constitutionally required full compensation remains to be determined for some of our firm’s clients, with mediations scheduled in the upcoming months. This project is in a developed urban area, impacting commercial properties such as mixed retail and warehouse, convenience stores, and gas stations. The partial takings from our clients’ properties on this project have created complex valuation issues involving impacts to access, site circulation, and parking, and the application of local code setback and buffer provisions to the remainder property.

COVID-19: Policastro Law Group Response/Update

March 19, 2020

As we continue to closely monitor developments associated with the COVID-19 virus, we are sharing an update on our operations and our commitment to serving you during this unprecedented time.

Currently, the four Policastro Law Group offices in Florida are operational, with staff working remotely or alternating staff in the office for social distancing.  We continue to monitor updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Department of Health, and local health departments. In the event it becomes necessary to temporarily close any of our offices, all of our team members will transition to working remotely with access to our documents and systems in a secure environment. We are committed to providing the highest level of service, especially during challenging and unpredictable times.

On March 17,  Governor Ron DeSantis activated the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program, which can assist small businesses impacted by COVID-19. The bridge loan program, managed by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, will provide short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses experiencing economic injury from COVID-19. The application period opens today and runs through May 8, 2020. You may access the application and learn more here.

Additionally, if you are a gas station or convenience store owner, The Florida Petroleum and Marketers Association website has an industry and emergency information page that is a great resource for guiding you through this uncertain time.

Policastro Law Group would like to thank and express support for all those in the medical and scientific fields who are on the front lines of combatting the spread of COVID-19. We encourage you to observe social distancing measures and do everything you can to stay healthy. As we all do our part to slow the virus’s transmission, we create valuable time and opportunity for our healthcare system and literally save lives.
