The Florida Transportation Commission held a meeting on January 8, 2018 to review the Department of Transportation’s Tentative Work Program for 2018/19 to 2022/2023. The Department’s proposed budget for the next five years includes $2.5 billion for right of way acquisition throughout the state.

In the Tampa Bay region, the TBX project has evolved into a bigger project known as Tampa Bay Next. Tampa Bay Next is comprised of smaller projects which are designed to address interstate modernization, rapid transit, bicycle and pedestrian needs and create and improve mobility solutions to the Tampa Bay area. The planning and design for projects that include the Westshore area, portions of I-275 and I-4 are currently underway.
