With a sense of urgency to alleviate traffic on one of the most congested roads in the United States, the Florida Department of Transportation has accelerated funding for the expansion of the I-4 Corridor between State Road 536 and U.S. Highway 27. Now to be completed in just ten years instead of twenty-five, the corridor will provide 14 miles of new toll lanes in the median of the interstate. Work will begin later this year with designing and site clearing for this massive $2.5 billion dollar road project.
