Broward Health, a leading public healthcare system in Florida, is actively expanding to enhance patient care and meet the needs of a growing population. As a government entity under the North Broward Hospital District, it has the authority to acquire private property through eminent domain when necessary to fulfill its mission of providing accessible healthcare.

One of its recent projects included a $65 million expansion at Broward Health Coral Springs. This development added a four-story patient tower equipped with cutting-edge features such as robotic-assisted surgery capabilities, an expanded maternity center, and an upgraded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This expansion increased the hospital’s capacity from 200 to 250 beds, focusing on patient comfort and advanced medical technology.

In 2020, Broward Health utilized eminent domain to acquire a 25-acre parcel in Parkland for $14.5 million. The plan is to use this site to establish an outpatient center and other medical facilities, which will address the healthcare needs of the growing Parkland community.

In its latest acquisition, Broward Health is focused on improving its medical campus adjacent to the North Broward Hospital District in Fort Lauderdale. As part of this initiative, it acquired properties previously owned by private businesses, including doctors’ offices and law firms. Many of these property owners hired Policastro Law Group to represent them in their eminent domain cases.  Policastro Law Group’s experienced eminent domain attorneys assisted its clients in the legal process and worked to ensure all owners received full compensation for their losses.

These strategic expansions highlight Broward Health’s dedication to advancing its infrastructure to deliver high-quality care while addressing the evolving needs of its diverse communities. The combination of innovative medical technology, expanded facilities, and accessible care solidifies its role as a vital healthcare system in Florida.
