Today marks the start of the widening of Ortiz Avenue, located in Fort Myers, Florida.  The project limits are between Colonial and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevards and is estimated to cost a total of $31 million. By Spring of 2026, the highly utilized two-lane roadway will be widened to four lanes.   In the meantime, construction activity may result in slowdowns and the FDOT requests that motorists drive cautiously through work zones.

Road widening projects like this often affect the community around it as land must be acquired to make the projects possible.  Policastro Law Group’s attorneys represent property owners and business owners against the condemning authority in reaching the maximum compensation they deserve for their land and damages.
